Wyandotte, Michigan has long enjoyed the distinction
of being "The more than typical American City". many
pioneer families still remain in the community, and
are proud of their past role in shaping or city's
colorful and dynamic past.
Our quaint city, along the world's busiest waterway,
the Detroit river, can trace its roots back to the
earliest French occupation of Detroit in 1702.
Wyandotte Indians built their village of Maquaqua
nearby. Major John Biddle purchased the village site
in 1818 and, in just a few years, iron workers and
shipbuilders were laboring in the bustling city.
"Wyandotte: A Pictorial History" is meant to be a
fun peek back into the past. Journey back to the
earliest years of Wyandotte's beginnings. We hope
you will find this latest publication on Wyandotte,
Michigan an enjoyable companion to past editions of
Proudly We Record and
Our Fame and Fortune in Wyandotte.
