Purpose
Statement:
The Department of
Finance and Administration serves as a multi-purpose department
within the city. The functions of budgeting, accounting, financial
analysis, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, risk
management, and policy analysis are performed by this department.
In addition, the annual financial statement audit is managed by the
department.
The department also handles the human resource functions of the
city. These include payroll processing, hiring of employees,
benefit administration, collective bargaining, workers
compensation, and the administration of the retirement systems.
The department provides these services to the Mayor and City
Council, city commissions, department heads, and employees.
Information is also provided to citizens upon request and plans are
underway to utilize this website to allow basic financial
information regarding the city to be readily available to interested
parties.
The department is also assigned to manage a number of special
projects initiated by the Mayor and City Council. Some of the
recent special projects include the Organizational Review of
Municipal Operations (which the final report is available for review
on this website), the Building Needs Assessment for the proposed
Police / Court facility, and the Preliminary Space/Site
Requirements/Costs Study for a Consolidated City Hall and Department
of Municipal Service Function. |
