A permit is required for the replacement of
city sidewalk, driveways, and driveway aprons. Permit fees are as
follows

City sidewalk -
minimum fee $35.00 for up to 50 feet,
then $1.00 per additional lineal foot.

Apron - minimum
fee $35.00 up to 12 feet,
then $1.00 per additional foot.

Driveway -
$35.00
The applicant
must be homeowner or licensed contractor. Unlicensed contractors
must submit a bond or insurance policy in the amount of $1,000.00
minimum.
All sidewalk and driveway aprons removed or damaged during
construction operations shall be replaced with concrete in
accordance with these specifications.
Sidewalks constructed on a 1:60, compacted subgrade, shall be a
minimum 4 inches thick, increasing at driveways to 6 inches for
residential and 8 inches for commercial.
The sidewalk subgrade and surface shall slope one inch per 5 feet
from property side of walk toward street.
Driveway aprons shall be a minimum 6 inches thick for residential
, and 8 inches thick for commercial.
It is recommended that the curb be left at least 1½ inches above
gutter grade on asphalt roads when cut to allow for future
resurfacing.
Residential curb cuts are limited to a maximum length of 20 feet,
all other subject to approval of the City Engineer.
Asphalt approaches and sidewalks are not permitted, only asphalt
over concrete approaches are permitted. A permit is required.
Installation shall not create a trip hazard.
Concrete shall be of 3500 PSI minimum compressive strength when
cured in moist air at 70° F. for 28 days.
All slabs shall be edged by a ¼ inch radius edger tool. One half
(½) inch asphalt expansion joints shall be placed not more than 50
feet apart in a continuous length of new sidewalk and between all
abutting service walks, drives, approaches, buildings and 1’ x 6’
between approach and curbs.
All sidewalks at street intersections must be constructed as a
ramp with a maximum slope of 1 in 12.
The Permit Holder shall notify the Department of Engineering for
subgrade inspection not less than 24 hours prior to placing
concrete. A final inspection is required after all forms have been
removed, edges backfilled, and site cleaned up.
Sidewalk shall be lightly textured to create a non-skid finish.
