Deferment of Taxes
Deferments are available for senior citizens and legally disabled persons with an annual income of less than $40,000.00. This deferment is for a homeowner’s principle residence only and allows summer taxes to be paid on or before February 14 of the following year without penalty. Qualified persons must complete this form annually, and return to the Treasurer’s Office.
If you pay your own taxes (rather than an escrow agent), a return addressed envelope is provided with your property tax bill. Please utilize this return envelope when paying your current year property taxes to ensure accurate and expedient delivery.
Your property tax bill can also be paid at the following locations:
- City Hall, Treasurer’s Office, 3200 Biddle Avenue, Suite 100. For your convenience, a 24 hour drop box is located outside, near the drive through window at Wyandotte City Hall, 3200 Biddle Avenue, Suite 100, Wyandotte.
- Michigan Legacy Credit Union (members only), 269 Oak Street
- Community Choice Credit Union (members only), 1280 Biddle Avenue
Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, money order, debt or credit cards. Credit and debit card payments are only accepted at City Hall, 3200 Biddle Avenue. There is a convenience fee to customers for payments made with debit or credit cards. The fee is collected and paid to the service provider, not the City of Wyandotte. Checks are accepted only as conditional payment. If the check is denied upon presentation to the bank, the tax will be restored as unpaid to the tax roll without further notice and will be subject to all applicable interest and penalty charges.
When you provide a check as payment, you authorize us either to use information from your check to make a one-time electronic funds transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction. When we use information from your check to make an electronic funds transfer, funds may be withdrawn from your account as soon as the same day your payment is received, and you will not receive your check back from your financial institution.
