Birth Certificates

The clerk’s office maintains records for births that occurred in The City of Wyandotte ONLY. For a birth record of an individual born OUTSIDE of the City of Wyandotte, please contact the County Clerk Vital Records Division or the Secretary of State Vital Records Office. A certified copy of a Birth Record may only be obtained by the individuals listed on the Birth Record.

In order to obtain a certified copy of a Birth Record IN PERSON, you must:

  1. Complete and sign a Birth Certificate Application. 
    a. Applications can be printed via the link above or they are available in the Clerk’s office at Wyandotte City Hall.
  2. Present your VALID driver’s license or sanctioned state identification.
  3. Birth certificate fulfillment is a same-day service when requested in person. 

In order to obtain a certified copy of a Birth Record BY MAIL, you must:

  1. (a) complete and sign a Birth Certificate Application (see link above) OR (b) send a formal letter addressed to the clerk’s office signed by the requester stating the individuals name at birth and date of birth.
  2. Provide a copy of a VALID driver's license or sanctioned state identification.
  3. Send check or money order payable to The City of Wyandotte. Credit cards are not accepted for applications sent through the mail.
  4. Submit your completed application or request, documentation and fee to: The City of Wyandotte, Office of the Clerk, 3200 Biddle Avenue, Suite 100, Wyandotte, Michigan 48192.

Requests will be processed in an expedient manner and in the order in which they were received. Please account for mailing time when considering the timing of your request. Should you need faster delivery than 1st class USPS mail, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 734.324.4560 for options.

PLEASE NOTE, BIRTH CERTIFICATES WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNLESS ALL VALID PAPERWORK IS RECEIVED WITH REQUEST.

Death Certificates

The clerk’s office maintains records for deaths that occurred in The City of Wyandotte ONLY. For a death record of an individual who passed OUTSIDE of the City of Wyandotte, please contact the County Clerk Vital Records Division or the Secretary of State Vital Records Office. In order to obtain a certified copy of a Death Record, you must:

  1. Complete and sign Death Certificate Application
  2. Provide a copy of a VALID driver’s license or sanctioned state identification.
  3. Send check or money order payable to The City of Wyandotte if ordering by mail. Cash is accepted at the payment windows. Credit cards are only accepted when applying IN PERSON, not for applications sent through the mail.

Fees & Payment Options

Effective October 1, 2011, the standard fee for a certified Birth or Death Certificate is $20.00 for the first copy, and $10.00 for each additional copy. Requests for additional copies must be made on the same date as the initial copy. When requests for additional copies are made at a later date, the initial $20.00 fee applies to the first copy requested. 

SENIORS (65+): Each certified copy of your OWN birth record is $5. If you are requesting a birth certificate for someone other than yourself, the standard fees above apply.

Cash, check, and money orders are accepted. Credit cards are accepted only when applying IN PERSON and there is a processing fee added for the use of debit/credit cards.

Marriage, Divorce, and Non-City Records

The City Clerk’s office does not manage the following records:

Marriage licenses
Divorce records 
Certificates for Births OR Deaths that occurred outside of the City of Wyandotte
