The Honorable City Council City of Wyandotte
3131 Biddle Avenue
Wyandotte MI 48192
Gentlemen and Madam:
On Monday, November 26, 2007, I had the opportunity to meet with
Paul Peterson, Harbor Program Manager, DNR Parks and Recreation
Division, and William Boik with regard to the possibility of
developing transient docks somewhere between Elm Street and the
pier in Bishop Park.
At that meeting, we discussed applying for a planning grant and
also hiring a consultant to work with us on the project. If we are
awarded a grant, it would most likely require a match of $80,000
to $100,000 from our Consolidated TWA fund. It was implied during
that discussion that while there would be money available for the
planning, funding for construction costs would be limited.
I am recommending that our City Engineer, Mark Kowalewski, be
authorized to begin interviewing potential consulting engineers.
He will select two consultants from the enclosed list of potential
consulting engineers that was provided by Mr. Peterson. Mr.
Kowalewski will add to that list if he feels it is necessary to do
so. I further recommend that Mr. Kowalewski be authorized to start
the application process for the grant so we can move forward with
this project as soon as possible.
I look forward to your concurrence in my recommendation concerning
this project.
James R. DeSana, Mayor
