Mayor James DeSana and City Council
3131 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte, MI 48192
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Wyandotte Braves Jr. Baseball Association again will be sponsoring
our fifth annual Fathers Day Classic Car Show-Fund Raiser on
Sunday June 17, 2007 to help raise money for our youth baseball
program. We are a non-profit organization, and provide a
recreational youth Baseball/Softball and T-Ball program for over
600 children here in the City of Wyandotte.
This year the Pro Wrestling Locker-room, a local cable program in
Wyandotte, and Metro Pro Wrestling, would like to donate their
time and put on a few matches as an added entertainment attraction
in conjunction with the Car Show. Thus calling the Car Show "The
Bruise Cruise". Also we will be bringing in the former WWE
Superstar Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake in the Main Event. Which we
hope will be even a bigger draw.
Again our association is requesting the use of the parking lot
adjacent to Bishop Park south of Oak St., west of the river for
our Car Show "The Bruise Cruise". Last years show, held at that
location, was a great success, even though the weather was
threatening. With over 100 cars in attendance.
Also, too, we would like to invite the Mayor and Council to stop
by and see some of the great looking Classic Cars in attendance,
also some great entertaining wrestling matches.
Thank you in advance and if you have any questions please contact
myself or my wife Shirley at 734-281-2696.
Sincerely,
John Kuzdzal, President, Wyandotte Braves Jr. Baseball Association

City Council:
We have a problem with water run off coming from 1241 6th Street
going into 1229 6th Street. His landscaping is much higher than
ours and slopping toward our lot instead of to the alley.
Since this problem occurred with the water it is causing our
sidewalk going to the alley to sink.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM CITY & OTHER OFFICIALS
January 10, 2007
The Honorable City Council City of Wyandotte
3131 Biddle Avenue
Wyandotte MI 48192
Gentlemen and Madam:
During the past three to four months, considerable discussion has
taken place concerning the development of a regional fire
department. During that time, representatives from the City of
Wyandotte, including Chief Michael MacDonald, Todd Drysdale,
Director of Finance & Administration, representatives from our
fire unions and I have had the opportunity to participate in
meetings with other elected officials, fire chiefs, union members
and finance officials, to discuss the pros and cons of such a
plan.
Last year, Downriver Community Conference was awarded a $25,000
grant for the purpose of studying the feasibility of regional
services. DCC hired Plante & Moran to conduct a study and a copy
of the fire report with the Articles of Incorporation and a draft
resolution concerning the Fire Consolidation Plan, prepared by
Plante & Moran, is enclosed. Keep in mind that this report is a
work in progress and subject to further changes prior to any final
documents being submitted for approval.
If you are expecting us to get 100% of what we want in the
consolidation process, realistically, I do not think that can
happen. While I do not think it is possible or practical to expect
all of us to agree on every issue, I do hope that a plan will be
presented that will satisfy most of our needs and wants. I urge
you to read the report and feel free to ask questions of our fire
chief, union representatives and Todd Drysdale, our Director of
Finance and Administration.
There is one point I feel the draft resolution attempts to avoid
and that is the issue of local control. The first decision all of
us have to make is whether or not we are willing to give up local
control of our fire department. If the majority of you are not
willing to give up local control, please make that decision now so
we do not waste our time participating in the next phase which is
to develop an authority to determine the policies for this fire
consolidation plan.
I am recommending that a public hearing be scheduled for our
council meeting on Monday, February 5, 2007, to solicit public
comment concerning our participation in the consolidation plan for
fire services. A notice can be placed in the newspaper and on
cable television to advertise this opportunity.
Once the public hearing has been conducted and we have heard from
our constituents, a decision will have to be made concerning our
position on the issue of local control and whether or not we are
willing to give up local control of our fire department. If city
council chooses to move forward with participation in the
consolidation plan, a resolution will be offered to approve
participation by the City of Wyandotte with the said cities in the
study of a plan to form a fire district and establish a fire
authority which could serve the City of Wyandotte and up to four
(4) other cities with a single consolidated fire department.
As stated in the draft resolution, participation in the study does
not constitute a commitment to participate in any fire district or
consolidated fire department which may result from this study and
the City has the right to withdraw from this study and/or any
consolidated fire department at any time.
Again, I urge you to talk to our fire chief, union representatives
and finance director to obtain any information you think is
important in making your decision, and I look forward to receiving
your comments relative to the report submitted by Plante & Moran.
Sincerely,
James R. DeSana, Mayor
