The City of Wyandotte, The Wyandotte Museum, & The Wyandotte
Historical Society are pleased to invite the public to attend the 21st
annual "Wyandotte Heritage Days." Wyandotte
Heritage Days is a family oriented celebration of
the
culture and history of the Great Lakes! Centered around
historic Bishop Park, the Wyandotte Museums and charming
downtown Wyandotte, this festival is an effort to increase
awareness of and appreciation for the history of our
community, state, and nation. It is comprised of a variety
of events including waterside concerts, living history
demonstrations, art exhibitors, historic home tours, pie and
ice cream socials and much more. New this year will be an
exhibition of local antique car clubs displaying their
prized pre-1940 vehicles in Bishop Park!
The
festival will also be greatly expanded and enhanced in 2006
by the addition of two new events to the city, to be held in
conjunction with Heritage Days
- Vintage Boat Races on
the Detroit River, sponsored by the APBA
(link) and the Wyandotte Rotary Club
(link), and the First annual
Wyandotte Classic Car Show & Music-fest in
downtown Wyandotte, sponsored by the
Wyandotte Jaycees and the Roosevelt Alumni Club!
These three events will comprise of
the first annual Wyandotte Vintage Fest!
Check this website for
additional info on Vintage Fest as the season progresses.
There are few real "family" activities available in the
region that offer the historical and cultural benefits of
Heritage Days,
and Vintage Fest.
And even fewer that do it for FREE!
Heritage Days
has become, in just a few short years, a major cultural and
educational event for the entire downriver area,
and promises to be even more so with the new and exciting
elements Vintage Fest will bring. Last year,
thousands of people from southeastern Michigan and
neighboring Ontario, Canada attended, and even greater
numbers are expected this year.
