As part of the
National and State of Michigan's Annual Free
Fishing Weekend, the City of Wyandotte is hosting
its 21st Annual exciting, fun-filled fishing derby for children 5 to
13 years of age, on Saturday, June 7th. 2008, at Bishop Park Fishing
Pier (just north of Oak and Van Alstyne). Fishing contest hours are
10 AM to Noon.
All contestants will receive a fishing contest participation award
and gift bag. A trophy and new rod and reel will be awarded
to winners in each of the following categories:
Age Categories:
5 to 8 years of
age
9 to 13 years of age
Trophies and
prizes awarded to winners in each category:

LONGEST FISH
•
MOST FISH CAUGHT
•
SMALLEST FISH
•
MOST UNUSUAL ITEM CAUGHT

Youths can pre-register at the Wyandotte Recreation
Department
or the Office of
the
Downtown Development Authority / Special Events from May 3rd
through June 2nd. Due to the size of the fishing pier there
will be a limit of 200 contestants.
All participants must be pre-registered.
Only fish caught
from 10 AM to Noon are eligible for prizes.
Children must
catch fish unassisted. The judges decision is final.
This
event is limited to the first 100 pre-registered Wyandotte
resident contestants and first 100 pre-registered non-resident
contestants.
Contestants must bring their own fishing pole,
hook, line and sinker.
Live bait will be available at the
fishing pier.
The City of Wyandotte has a strong
commitment to area youths and is proud to celebrate National
Fishing Week by sponsoring this program for young citizens. |
