The mural on the
Armstrong/Arlington Building

by
Carl Oxley
III &
Dave
Moroski
Both artists work can be
seen at
Biddle Gallery
The project came about when Karen Thomas of
Biddle Gallery
and
Carl Oxley
III were walking back
from Frank's pizza after the 3rd Friday in June As we were passing the
building we were saying wouldn't it be cool to put a mural on this like they
do in big cities to cover ugly plywood while a building is being worked on.
Carl said if someone would pay for the supplies he would do it for free. I
contacted
DDA Director Lisa Hooper who said yes. Lisa
then contacted the building owner for permission. Frank Pettinga a partner
with Wyandotte LLC gave us an enthusiastic yes and offered to put the primer
coat on.
I knew
Dave
Moroski was interested
in a mural project, so I asked him to help, too.
Within 3 weeks of inception the project was completed. Thanks to Lisa Hooper who was behind it 100% and made this the easiest project I ever worked on. Also, many thanks to Frank Pettinga, and of course, Dave and Carl
Working on the mural Wednesday (until midnight!) and Thursday evening many
people walking by stopped to tell us how great it was we were doing this.
People driving by were honking and yelling it looked great.
According to
Frank, the mural will stay up through August Here are the bio's of carl and dave: Carl Oxley III - Bio. & Dave Moroski - Bio. |
