CHAPTER II.
BOUNDARIES, WARDS & ELECTION PRECINCTS

Boundaries.

11, Section 1. The boundaries of the City of Wyandotte shall be and remain as now fixed and established and are described as follows: Commencing at the intersection of the east line of the highway or road known as Fort Street which runs on the north and south half section lines of Sections nineteen, thirty and thirty-one in Town [ship] three south, Range eleven east, County of Wayne and State of Michigan, with the north line of the highway or road which runs on the line between the Townships of Ecorse and Monguagon in said county known as Pennsylvania Avenue; thence northerly along the east line of said Fort Street, so-called, to its intersection with the center line of the highway or road known as Goddard Road, the center line of said Goddard Road being also the southerly boundary line of the City of Lincoln Park in said county; thence easterly along the center line of said Goddard Road to its intersection with the highway or road known as Gohl Road which runs on the line between Sections nineteen and twenty, Town[ship] three south, Range eleven east, thence northerly along the center line of said Gohl Road extended to its intersection with the center line of the south branch of the Ecorse River or Creek; thence easterly along the center line of the south branch of said Ecorse River or Creek, which is also the present south-easterly boundary line of said City of Lincoln Park, to its intersection with the north and south half section line of said Section twenty; thence along the center line of the south branch of said Ecorse River or Creek north forty-two degrees, forty-nine minutes east five hundred thirty-nine and thirty-four one hundredths feet to the center line of the middle branch of said Ecorse River or Creek; thence along the center line of the middle branch of said Ecorse River or Creek south eighty-nine degrees, two minutes, ten seconds east four hundred and twenty-eight one hundredths feet; thence continuing along the center line of the middle branch of said Ecorse River or Creek north seventy-six degrees, eight minutes, ten seconds east four hundred ten feet; thence continuing along the center line of the middle branch of said Ecorse River or Creek south sixty-seven degrees, thirty-eight minutes, twenty seconds east five hundred twenty-nine and eighty-nine one hundredths feet; thence continuing along the center line of the middle branch of said Ecorse River or Creek north seventy-six degrees fifty-three minutes, twenty seconds east four hundred forty-two and sixty-three one hundredths feet to the center line of the main branch of said Ecorse River or Creek; thence easterly along the center line of the main branch of said Ecorse River or Creek to the harbor line of the Detroit River; thence in a southerly direction along the harbor line of said Detroit River to its intersection with the southerly line of said Section twenty extended, said point of intersection being the - south-east corner of the former Village of Ford; thence easterly along the southerly line of said Section twenty extended to a point where the national boundary line in said Detroit River intersects the section line between sections number twenty-one and twenty-eight in said Town three south; thence southerly along the said national boundary line to its intersection with the half section line of Section thirty-two, Town three south, Range eleven east; thence westerly along the half section hue of said section thirty-two to its intersection with the westerly channel bank of said Detroit River; thence southerly along the westerly channel bank of said Detroit River to a point where said channel bank intersects the township line dividing the said Townships of Ecorse and Monguagon; thence westerly along the line dividing the said Townships of Ecorse and Monguagon to the westerly line of the right of way of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad; thence northerly on a line, at right angles to the line dividing said Townships of Ecorse and Monguagon, to the northerly line of the highway or road running along the line between said Townships of Ecorse and Monguagon, and known as Pennsylvania Avenue; thence westerly along the northerly line of said Pennsylvania Avenue, so-called, to the point of beginning.

 

Wards.

12. Section 2. The City of Wyandotte shall consist of one ward.

State law reference - Mandatory that charter provide for the establishment of one or more wards, MCL § 117.3(e), MSA § 5.2073(e).

 

Election precincts.

13. Section 3. The election precincts of the city as existing at the time of the adoption of this charter shall continue as election precincts of the city hereunder, with such alterations as shall from time to time be made by the council as herein provided. The council may, by ordinance, increase or decrease the number of said election precincts or change the boundaries thereof.

The council, when there shall be more than six hundred (600) electors in any voting precinct of the city, according to the poll list of the last preceding election, shall cause such precinct to be divided into two (2) or more voting districts. The manner of making such division, the creation of election inspectors, and all matters pertaining to such division and the holding of election in such districts, not covered by the provisions of this charter, shall be provided for by the council.
