Artist
Statement:
With an inherited love of fabric, I created a quilting
business in 1998. Since then my work has made the transition
to the
2-dimensional fabric art that I now create.
My process is similar to painting with a fabric-only palette
(no paint is used in my entire process). Each piece of artwork
is a layered composition of small fabric segments that are cut
individually, arranged and web fused to a background fabric
(my canvas).
In
the framing process I follow conservation framing standards by
using all acid and lignin-free materials and non-glare
conservation glass.
I handcraft each solid wood frame – working the wood from
rough-cut to the finished product. My artistic preference is a
rustic appearance. Any imperfections found on the wood – bark,
knots, cracks, etc. – become part of the frame design and make
each frame unique.
Life’s natural beauties are the inspiration for my original
fabric art, and my hope is that you ENJOY!! |
