Christmas Tree Collection
Place trees out where you place your trash on Tuesdays if you are located north of Vinewood and Thursdays, if you live south of Vinewood. The trees will be picked-up by Republic Waste Services beginning the week of January 4, 2010. Collection will continue until January 29, 2010.
NOTE: Trees must be free of all decorative items, lights, tree stands and plastic bag.

Monday
North side of Oak Street to North Drive, Railroad to the Detroit River.

Tuesday
Eureka to Goddard, 23rd to 15th street.
North side of Ford Avenue from 11th Street to 15th Street.
East side of 15th Street from Ford Avenue North to 15th. Street.
Both sides of Goddard Road from 11th Street to 15th Street.
Both sides of 11th Street from Goddard to Ford Avenue.

Wednesday
Ford Avenue to North Drive.
11th Street to the railroad tracks.

Thursday
Eureka to Ford Avenue, 15th. to Railroad.
Oak to Grove, East of the railroad to the Detroit River.

Friday
Pennsylvania to South Side of Oak, Fort Street to 15th Street.
West side of 15th from Eureka Avenue to Oak Street.
North side of Eureka Avenue from 15th to Fort Street.
East side of Fort Street from Eureka to Oak Street.
South side of Oak Street from Fort Street to 15th Street.
East side of the Railroad property from Grove Street to Pennsylvania Road.
Both sides of Grove Street from Biddle Avenue West to the Railroad property.
West side of Biddle Avenue from Grove Street to Pennsylvania Road.
North side of Pennsylvania Road from Biddle Avenue West to the Railroad crossing.

Guidelines for Trash Collection in The City of Wyandotte:

Solid Waste
Refuse cans, and/or bags should be placed at the curb NO LATER than 7:00 am on your collection day. Refuse must be placed at the curb in a watertight container or a refuse bag that does not exceed 32-gallons in size and 50 lbs in weight. Containers that do not meet these requirements will not be collected.

Bulky Items
Bulky items would be considered anything you are not able to place in a refuse container or bag. Examples of these items would include: Carpeting (must be bundled, no more than 4ft in length and secured for one person to handle), water heaters, mattresses & box springs, furniture and large appliances. For the safety of others, you MUST remove doors from refrigerators and similar appliances prior to being placed curbside. The maximum weight for bulky items is 120 pounds per item, and there is a limit of 2 bulky items per week.

Unacceptable Materials
Republic Waste Services will NOT collect any of the following items: hazardous materials; liquids of any kind; yard waste mixed with solid waste; whole tires; carbonated beverage containers (unless they are recyclable); dead animals; large auto/truck parts; stone/rock; dirt; large amounts of construction & demolition materials or any other material banned by state law. Republic does not accept yard waste during regular solid waste collection. You may subscribe to have yard waste  picked up curbside, or you may dispose of your yard waste at the Wyandotte Recycling Center.

Republic will accept paint cans, providing that the paint is latex and is dried to a solid state, otherwise it must be disposed of during Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. Curb Cart Container Rental
Curb cart trash containers are available for lease on an annual basis. These wheeled carts hold the same amount as two (65 gallon) and three (96 gallon) normal trash containers. These carts make it easy to contain refuse and prevent nuisances that are associated with refuse storage and collection. Holiday Trash Collection
Republic Waste Services observes the following Holidays:

  • New Years
  • Day Labor Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • July 4th
  • Christmas Day

When a holiday falls on a weekday, there will be no collections on that day, and the rest of that week’s refuse and subscription yard waste & recycling collection will be scheduled one day later than usual. Please note: Republic will occasionally “catch up” on the schedule, so you may place your trash out early on the week of a holiday re-schedule date if desired.

Residential Curbside Recycling and Yard Waste Collection

Republic offers curbside recycling, for a nominal charge. If you subscribe to curbside recycling you will receive a container, in which to place your items. Your recycling container should be placed curbside on the same day that your regular trash is collected. Items that will be collected curbside include the following: Newspapers (including inserts), phonebooks, magazines, cardboard (flattened), clear glass, brown glass, metal cans and lids, plastic containers (HDPE 2 & PETE 1). Please be certain that containers are clean before placing them in bins.

Republic also offers subscription weekly curbside yard waste collection from March 1st through December 15th. This service includes the collection of grass clippings, leaves, brush and other yard waste every week. Grass clippings, leaves, weeds and garden waste must be placed in a 32 gallon or smaller receptacle clearly marked “YARD WASTE ONLY” (not to exceed 50 lbs in weight). Twigs, brush and shrubbery must be tied in bunches not more than 4 feet in length and not more than 6 inches in diameter.
