Important Reminders
The Recycling Center does not accept pizza boxes. Please remove the plastic bag inside the cereal boxes before recycling these boxes.

Curbside Recycling
Waste Management offers curbside recycling for a fee. To enroll in curbside recycling, please call Waste Management at 1-800-796-9696.

Curbside Yard Waste
The cost for curbside yard waste is $46.00 per year, for April 10th through December 9th.

The hours for the Recycling Center are as follows:

Summer Hours (Starting first Monday in May)
Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 7:30 pm
Saturday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
Sundays 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Winter Hours (Starting November 1st)
Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Sundays 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Recycling CenterExtended hours for the month of November only:
Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday 7:30 am to 6:00 pm
Sundays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Recycling Center is closed on holidays and when other city
offices are closed.

The Wyandotte Recycling Center accepts the following items:

  • Plastic containers #1 - 7
  • Newspapers (including inserts) & phonebooks, no office paper
  • Glass bottles and jars (clear glass only)
  • Plastic bottles (HDPE 2 & PETE 1)
  • Metal and tin cans
  • Flattened corrugated cardboard (Pizza boxes not accepted)
  • Flattened boxboard (Cereal boxes, toy boxes, etc.)
  • Magazines
  • Motor oil (5 gallons or less)
  • Grass clippings, weeds and leaves
  • Brush (No large roots or logs)
  • Household batteries* (camera, hearing aid, and rechargeable phone batteries must be recycled on household hazardous waste day).
  • Car batteries

Recycling Center*Household Batteries may also be recycled at City Hall. Please place them in the marked receptacle located directly adjacent the corridor to the Engineering and Building Department on the First Floor of City Hall, 3131 Biddle Avenue.

Please place the items in the containers as marked, at the Recycling Center. If you have questions as to whether or not an item is accepted by our recycling center, please consult our on-site staff or contact us.  

Paper Products

Although our recycling center does not accept office paper, there are several locations in the City of Wyandotte where you may recycle your paper. The following schools and religious organizations have Paper Retriever receptacles on site and will receive a donation when office paper is recycled at their site:
