Business Owners

The City of Wyandotte does not require a general business license; however certain types of businesses are required to be registered. Routine police checks are performed on all new business owners. Peddlers and solicitors are required to produce two small photographs for identification. You must appear in person to the clerk’s office to obtain business registration. More information about business registration may be found Chapter 21 of the City Charter.

The types of businesses that are required to be registered with the city; and the applicable fees are as follows:

AMUSEMENT
Distributor $300.00
Location of each amusement $75.00

ARCADE $500.00
(7 or more amusements are considered an arcade. Note: Subject to council approval)

AUCTIONS
Per year $500.00
Per day $100.00

CIRCUS
First day $350.00
Each additional day $175.00

DANCE
Bar $200.00
Halls that charge admission $200.00
Dance schools $100.00

FUMIGATOR $100.00
(Note: $15,000 bond is required)

JUNK
Yard $300.00
(Note: $1000.00 bond is required for yard. Truck and push carts must be applied for in the Engineering and Building Department.)

MASSAGE PARLOR
Operator $500.00
Instructor $100.00
Practitioner $100.00
(The building must be compliant with the code, according to new requirements. These may be obtained from the clerk’s office)

MOVERS $250.00
(Note: Verification of insurance is required)

MOTOR BUS $100.00
(Note: Verification of insurance is required)

(Note: $3000.00 surety bond is required)

PEDDLER
Truck $300.00
Walking $300.00
(Note: Two proofs of identification required)

TRANSIENT MERCHANT $300.00 per day

(Scale must be licensed by the State of Michigan)

Note: Only two garage sales are permitted per year, not including the Wyandotte Citywide Garage Sale that is held each May.
