The District Court accepts
filing of civil matters according to where the
defendant
resides
or
the cause of action occurred.
 For the 27th District Court
this would be in the City of Wyandotte and/or City of
Riverview, which would be proper jurisdiction. At time of
filing, all proper paperwork must be completed by the
Plaintiff, the correct filing fee be submitted, and
instructions as to how the case is to be served.
Service
arrangements may be made by the Plaintiff or the Court Officer
and the appropriate fees paid. Civil matters must have
personal service and affidavit of proof filed with the court.
Personal service may be completed by direct contact with the
party or by certified mail with a return receipt forwarded by
the U.S. Post Office.
Proof of service must be filed
before a case continues in court.
GENERAL CIVIL: Cases up to
$25,000 in damages.

$25 + service
( $601 thru $1750 $45 + service
( $1751 thru $10000 $65 + service
( $10001 thru $25000 $150 + service
Claim other than for a money Judgment: $65.00 + service fee
Attorneys may represent the party.
Parties must comply with
Statute and Court Rules.
SMALL CLAIMS: Cases
up to $3,000 in damages.

( $601 thru $1750 $45 + service
( $1751 thru $3000 $65 + service
No
attorneys involved at this level.
LANDLORD/TENANT: Non
Payment of Rent, or Termination of Tenancy.
